- Radiation Rangers, Rev. John Southwick and Frank Serafine, discover
white substance covering vast area of Runkle Canyon on March 26,
2008.
- Department of Toxic Substances Control's Norm Riley takes sample
and has it tested at DTSC lab and gives Serafine "Rock with White
Evaporate" report.
- Heavy metal readings show high chromium, nickel, molybdenum,
potassium and iron. DTSC report calls material "evaporative salt" two
weeks before getting lab results.
- EnviroReporter.com performs extensive Runkle Canyon chromium
analysis. Runkle chromium, nickel and molybdenum all higher than
Rocketdyne averages.
- Potassium over 635 times normal, molybdenum 14 times higher, iron
3,243 times more than in average California soil. Chromium six times
EPA Preliminary Remediation Goal and eleven times average in soil and
levels trip investigation guidelines in New Jersey, Kentucky, Oregon
and Canada.
- Chromium previously found by city of Simi Valley in Runkle Canyon
surface water and Boeing fined $471,190 by California Regional Water
Quality Control Board on September 11, 2007. "The violations consisted
of wastewater and storm water run-off discharges with elevated levels
of chromium..."

pages of KB Home reports submitted to Department of Toxic
Substances Control as part of Voluntary Cleanup Agreement
signed in April. Other critical documents analyzed.
- Radiological and chemical contamination in Runkle Canyon
worse than previously known publicly.
- EnviroReporter.com submits extensive analyses to DTSC
and creates interactive Runkle Canyon Timelines to facilitate
understanding of this complex subject.
- In addition to the high levels of chromium, strontium-90,
arsenic, nickel, vanadium, perchlorate and trichlorethylene,
the Runkle Canyon cocktail of contaminants grows.
- Toxic NDMA found in Runkle Canyon groundwater.
- A reading of 330 parts per billion of perchlorate detected in
Runkle Canyon's groundwater, five times higher than any
detection there before. The Rangers request that wells MW-
1 and MW-2 be reactivated in order to further test the
groundwater.
- Benzene found in a tarry material in Runkle Canyon at nearly
55 times its EPA Preliminary Remediation Goal for
residential soil and at level exceeding chronic level for the
carcinogen.
- Developer lab, Geocon, finds toxic heavy metal vanadium at
level four time higher than previously known by
EnviroReporter.com. Surpasses "Notification Level" where
local water purveyor informs customers of water threat.
- Test results of Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons include a
result of 24.3 mg/kg for benzo(a)antracene which is 39.19
times its PRG of 0.62 mg/kg.
